Janette Walker

Janette Walker completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Performing Arts (Opera) at Auckland University in 1994 and was awarded the inaugural Auckland Opera (now New Zealand Opera) Young Artists Scholarship later that year.

In 1995 she emigrated to Sydney and has subsequently undertaken the roles of Angelica, Suor Angelica, Susanna, Le Nozze di Figaro, Juliette, Romeo et Juliette, Eurydice, Orpheus and Eurydice, Micaela, Carmen, Eurydice, Orpheus in the Underworld, Saffi, Der Zigeunerbaron, Josephine, HMS Pinafore, Belinda, Dido and Aeneas, Yum Yum, The Mikado for various opera companies in New South Wales and the role of The Confidant in Elektra for the Sydney Festival under the baton of Simone Young. 

Janette performed the role of Ines in Southern Opera's 2008 production of Il trovatore and will appear as the First Lady in Mozart's The Magic Flute in 2009.
